Getting here

Gate Access:
VERY IMPORTANT: To enter the grounds of the Naval Postgraduate School, you must be put on the gate access list. Your host at NPS should do this for you. Please confirm with your host/s 72 hours prior to your arrival that they have registered your name with the gate access list. If you have a CAC card, you do not need to be put on the list, as you already have clearance to enter the base.

Gate Entrance:
During normal business hours (0700-1730), the only gate to enter the NPS campus is at the intersection of Sloat Ave. and 9th Street. Once you enter through this gate, the guard will direct you to the small parking lot adjacent to the entrance (just before you enter campus) where you can request a temporary parking permit from the Pass & ID office. You will need proof of insurance, license and registration (or just your license & the rental agreement). Please ask the attendant for a map that specifies where you are permitted to park. The MOVES Institute is on Dyer Rd. in Building 246, we are located on the second floor.

Weather

Packing advice: The peninsula is usually cool and often overcast, especially in summer. Think San Francisco, not Los Angeles (remember the dense fogs swirling through Maltese Falcon? They live here). The best defense is layers.
