Early congratulations to MAJ Ben Morehead, USA on the completion of MOVES first-ever thesis that extensively explored the use of simulation in the healthcare domain. Sleep apnea is an increasingly vexing issue, dramatically affecting quality of life and driving up healthcare cost in up to 60% of veterans. Ben applied 3D design and printing as well as a parameterized upper airway fluid structure interaction (FSI) simulation to address compliance issues.
Many thanks to colleagues at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) and Telemedicine & Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) for their help and advice.
Also many thanks to colleagues at the University of British Columbia for their kind assistance and very impressive upper airway modeling toolkit.
