Note: The vegetation objects used in the following pictures are OpenFlight models generated by Bionatics REALnat Premium using multiple LODs. This high-resolution experiment is running around 5 frames per second (1600x1200 resolution) for 1.3M trees in a small (30x25km) scene. Obviously, at this resolution, our geocell-based quadtree is woefully unbalanced. We are targetting over 2M vegetation objects at 30fps when fully optimized LOD'd vegetation objects are used.
Yes, I noticed the first few columns on the left hand side of the images are actually from the right. Poor screenshot technique, no doubt, since it doesn't happen in the running program.
