Dr. Mathias Kölsch is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. He is also affiliated with the MOVES Institute, Chair of the MOVES Academic Committee and the Academic Associate for the MOVES curriculum. His research interests include computer vision, hand gesture recognition, augmented and virtual environments, and embedded computing. In his role as Chair of the Academic Committee he shapes the Modeling, Virtual Environments and Simulation (MOVES) curriculum at the MOVES Institute to match the needs for modeling and simulation experts for the US Navy, Marine Corps, Army and Air Force. The MOVES Institute delivers world-class M&S education at the graduate level, through certificates and senior-level courses. Mathias received his doctorate from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2004 and has published numerous scientific and technical papers in journals and conferences, as well as several book chapters.
