PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Naval Postgraduate School, MOVES Institute, CA
Research Associate Professor
(Dec 2004 - present)

  • PI and co-PI for several ONR, DTO, IARPA and NMSO sponsored studies that focused on evaluation of training effectiveness in virtual simulations, developing benchmarks for team and multiple teams training situations, novel training approaches and pedagogies, training in game-based systems, transfer studies and most effective use of training simulations, and guidelines on metrics and evaluation of collective performances. All research efforts involve the work with domain users. To date over 4000 USMC personnel, and many NPS students were actively involved in those projects. Currently leads several research efforts as a PI ($6.5 M, four years), and co-PI ($1.8 M, four years); two largest research projects involve the collaboration with the institutions outside of NPS.
  • Teach Human Factors for Virtual Environments (MV4001), and Human-Computer Interaction (CS 3004) master level courses
  • Member of NPS Faculty Council, and Faculty Council Representative in NPS Research Board
  • Member of MOVES Curriculum committee and MOVES PhD Committee
  • Head MOVES Human Factors and Training Systems focus group
  • Advisor to multiple master students
