The Master of Science program runs from 12 to 24 months based on indivdual's academic record and current experience. For students who have not been in an academic environment for extended periods optional 6 week or 12 week refreshers are offered. The MOVES MS program consists of the following elements:

• Optional refresher quarter (6 or 12 week)
• Core requirements can be completed via the following:
  • Resident program (as part of 24 month plan) sample matrix found here.
  • Online resources for validating these requirements found here.
• Block requirements - 3-4 course sequence that provides a specialization within the broad category of M&S topics. Degree requirements are satisfied by completing three of eight blocks. A complete list of blocks found here.
• Service-specific requirements
  • All USN/USMC must take the JPME course series found here
  • USMC must take the MV3331 acquisition course (currently part of the core)
• Thesis requirements
• An acceptable thesis is also required for the degree
• The student's thesis advisor, the Program Officer and the MOVES Academic Committee Chair must approve the study program and the thesis topic
